WHAT WE DO

Why vocational training in Africa?

At Afrika-Dual, we offer a wide range of services to develop skilled African workers. These include training, internships, and mentoring programs, all conducted according to German dual education standards. We work closely with companies and governments to ensure our graduates have the skills and knowledge to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy.

Thousands of people die every year trying to reach Europe illegally. Those who do reach our country are forced into illegality. They sometimes have to live with an uncertain residency status for years. Furthermore, they are completely inadequately prepared, both linguistically and professionally, for living and working in Europe.

On the other hand, our society urgently needs well-trained specialists. Unfortunately, poaching these workers isn't easy. Cultural differences, language barriers, and incomparable training systems hinder success.

In addition, well-educated professionals from Asia and Latin America who are willing to emigrate usually have better options than Germany. With our language and bureaucracy, we are often not the first choice. Simply put, the last region for which Germany represents an attractive destination is sub-Saharan Africa.

It therefore makes sense to prepare people there who wish to emigrate well for our society and our labor market.

It's now becoming technologically possible to provide education and training anywhere in the world. Therefore, language and technical training can largely be relocated to the countries of origin. With the support of German trainers and teachers, pupils and students can even be supported in Africa until they pass their Chamber of Industry and Commerce exams.

Benefits for companies

Highly motivated employees with good language skills, trained and tested according to German standards.

Small German companies working in the skilled trades sector have neither the time nor the know-how to recruit suitable skilled workers from other continents.

Young people in Africa have no idea what it's like to live and work in Europe. This is where the Africa-Dual Project can help.

Through direct cooperation with church and state educational institutions, targeted educational programs and training courses are organized. This leads to professional qualifications sought after in Germany. German vocational teachers will train African colleagues and students. Language courses are also offered, ensuring that graduates are integrated relatively seamlessly into German professional life.

The training programs are designed to lead to official Chamber of Industry and Commerce qualifications. Ideally, language skills will be at level B1 or B2 (depending on professional requirements). Language instruction will be conducted parallel to the technical training.

During the training in Africa, contacts with German employers are established. Afrika-Dual provides support with formalities and the search for accommodation, among other things.

Although the training standards are geared to the German labor market, no one is forced to go to Germany after completing their training.

Experience has shown that at the end of a successful training program, there is a "healthy mix" of people willing to emigrate and those who, thanks to their excellent training, want to take advantage of the significantly better opportunities in their home country. The training plan is closely coordinated with the German partner companies.

The Internet is everywhere; seize opportunities

Smartphones and the internet have now reached even the smallest African village. Satellite technology (Starlink) is now making stable, fast internet available anywhere in the world. In Kenya and Nigeria, this is already possible without restrictions and at moderate prices.

This makes supporting hybrid teaching methods in cooperation with African educational partners technically no longer a problem. The actors "only" need to be brought together.

The German consultants contribute according to their time and professional resources. This can include language and subject-specific teaching support online from Germany or specialized courses for teachers and trainees on-site in Africa.

Even complex specialized courses in the craft or IT fields can be easily supported online from Germany. At the same time, trainees can be given practical insights into everyday German school and working life before entering the country.
